Talking life guards and beach safety on South of the River

Alli Harding was joined by life guard Erin Reed (above, in the studio and on patrol), who filled us in on the fun – and career benefits – of being part of a lifesaving club.

Erin, 22, has been involved at Hampton Life Saving Club pretty much since she could walk, and is now both a volunteer and paid life guard for Life Saving Victoria.

An aspiring teacher who has already worked as a camp counsellor in the US, Erin outlined some of the risks people take around water and the ‘people manager’ role of life guards (tune in at the 30 minute mark of the podcast to hear the interview with Erin).

Visit lsv.com.au to find out about your local club as well as water safety and first aid courses. New members are always welcome.

Alli also played some great tracks – and is looking forward to saying hi at the Southern FM outside broadcast at Sandringham Festival on Saturday 2 December. See you there!
