Podcast: Antarctic runner Donna Urquhart chats with Alli Harding on South of the River
Black Rock runner Donna Urquhart loves running but she’s not content with running along the beach … instead she set herself a goal to achieve the longest run in a polar region.
Donna, an Associate Professor at Monash University, completed the 1300km ultramarathon in Antarctica in January. She ran up to 60km every day for 26 days – and all in temperatures of less than -10 degrees.
Donna and her crew were based in tents at a Chilean camp that operates for only three months a year.
The incredible feat involved a team of support people, including her project manager Annie. Both Donna and Annie joined Alli in the Southern FM studio on Sunday 3 March to discuss the planning and execution of the run – and what’s next for Donna, who is committed to empowering young women.
