South of the River host Alli Harding chats with actor Ian Bliss and true crime writer Emily Webb – podcast now available
Actor Ian Bliss (above, with Alli) is often recognised from his role in The Matrix movies and many Australian television dramas, but did you know it all began in Highett? Ian grew up in the area before heading to drama school in Sydney in his twenties – and still lives bayside.
Ian is now in rehearsals for a new Australian play, My Sister Jill, at Southbank Theatre. Set from the 1950s to 1970s, the story focuses on a family in suburban Melbourne as they struggle with changing social norms and the impacts of war. The play opens on September 23.
Alli was also joined by true crime podcaster Emily Webb (below), who is well known for her respectful conversations around, and coverage of, crimes that have shocked Australians. Emily and Alli used to work together as journalists so they enjoyed some reminiscing and talking about Emily’s upcoming ‘Criminal Conversations’ show at the Chelsea Heights Hotel – also on September 23.
You can find out more about My Sister Jill by visiting Melbourne Theatre Company and can follow @emilywebbcrime on instagram and book tickets to her live show here
