The voice of Countdown – 50 years on!

Ian “Molly” Meldrum will always be remembered as the face of the legendary pop music show Countdown, but there was a voice on the program that was just as well known to viewers. Gavin Wood was the off-camera announcer who introduced the show and many of the performers who graced our television screens. On the 50th anniversary of Countdown, Gavin Wood is speaking to his former Radio 3XY colleague Colin Tyrus on 88.3 Southern FM’s A Newsman and His Music (Mondays 9 AM to 11 AM).
