A mission to honour Aboriginal service in WW1
Tom Molyneux has a great story to tell. His great great uncle is Allan McDonald, a “Fighting Gunditjamara” man and one of the first Aboriginal soldiers from Victoria to enlist in WW1. Serving in the Australian Light Horse at Gallipoli and the Battle of Beersheba, uncle Allan’s fight continued when he returned home, battling institutionalised racism to improve rights and recognition for Aboriginal people. Hear and There presenter Nathan Reynolds caught up with Tom ahead of his upcoming memoir The Mission, performing at Chapel off Chapel 17 – 26 Feb and touring Nationally.
