A Safe Space To Be; Inspiring Stories of Survival and Working With Refugees In Our Community
Nayran Tabiei from ‘Flavours of Syria’ and Janine Lawrie from the Social Enterprise ‘Space2b’ talk to Craig Francis about their work with those new to our country. Nayran relates her story of her family escaping war in Syria and having their boat sunk by people smugglers, their time on Christmas Island as refugees, and her sheer joy and gratitude for being able to call Australia home. Nayran and Janine also talk of their efforts in mentoring and training asylum seekers and refugees, via their St Kilda based cafe, catering, art gallery and fashion retail outlet.
