“Built For Speed”, 20TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, Friday 24th October 2014
“Built for Speed” on 88.3 Southern FM: 20 Years of Music and Movies
Melbourne’s south eastern suburban community radio station 88.3 Southern FM is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the program “Built for Speed” this Friday night, 24th Oct 2014 at 8pm.
“Built for Speed”, which is hosted by Dr Nick, CJ and Jimbo, is a music-based program with rock as its core. The show’s title comes from the Motorhead song later covered by Melbourne rock legends The Powdermonkeys. The show covers rock music in all its form including alternative, independent, mainstream and a smattering of classic rock. “Built for Speed” has also been known to test the boundaries by bringing a diverse variety of musical genres to our listeners’ discerning ears.
“Built for Speed” also proudly plays new artists and new music well in advance of the commercial stations. This includes some of the finest new Australian artists. Australian music has always been a passion and focus for “Built for Speed” and it’s variety not boundaries that define what we play.
Running every Friday night from 8-10pm, “Built for Speed” also includes weekly film reviews covering art-house, foreign films, blockbusters and even kids’ flicks. Other segments include the weekly local gig guide, TV guide and whatever topical news, reviews and information can be squeezed in to the show. Importantly, the show also focuses on local events giving an alternative voice to the community in the southern suburbs.
Friday 24th October, will see a special 20th Anniversary edition of “Built for Speed” which will celebrate the music, films and special guests featured on the shows as well as memories good, bad and hopefully hilarious from the presenters.
You can hear this special edition of “Built for Speed” on 88.3 Southern FM or via the web on www.southernfm.org.au. Segments of the show will be also available for podcast.
