It was 30 years ago today on Radio Ga Ga – 1981
What were we listening to 30 years ago?? Come on a ride with Radio Ga Ga as we spin through 2 hours of the songs of 1981. You will know most of them and some were huge hits but there will also be plenty of tunes you will have forgotten but will remember instantly the moment you hear them again. Depeche Mode, Hall & Oates, Stevie Wonder, Devo and Foreigner will all get a run but so too will Phil Seymour, Frankie & The Knockouts, Altered Images, XTC and Grover Washington Junior as we delve into the 88.3 archives and find a few of the forgotten songs of 1981. There will be fun facts and info about other things that happened in that year. Remember Bobby Sands hunger strike, the shooting of President Reagan, the birth of MTV, Simon & Garfunkel’s concert in Central Park, Elizabeth Carr (the first test tube baby), the mysterious death of Natalie Wood, the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and the first “Back to the Future” car (The DeLorean DMC-12) rolling off the production line???? All of these events and happenings are from our featured year.
Join Lucy & Mark for 2 hours of fun and memories on RGG this Saturday morning, New Years Eve from 10am until noon.
